オーストラリアでiモード
今月の10日からオーストラリアの電話会社テレストラでドコモが提供したiモードサービスが開始したのは、ニュースになっていましたが、近所にあるワリンガモールにて実機に触ることができたのでレポートしたいと思います。
日本だとキレイなお姉さんですが、オーストラリアはガイです。
現在提供されている機種はNとPの二機種。基本的な操作感は日本の物となんら変りません。
現在提供されている公式WEBサイトは200とのこと。
でも、パンフレットを見た限りでは、それほど多くはなかったような。
公式サイトの月額の加入料は4ドル。1ドル約80円なので、日本よりちょっとだけ高いぐらいですね。
一番の違いというか日本でもまだやっているとは思いますが、オーストラリアの公式サイトに出会い系サイトがかなり多いです。
オーストラリア最大の出会い系サイト「RSVP」なんかも入ってます。このサイト夜中にバンバンCM売ってます。よほど儲かっているのでしょうね。
それとiモードの接続料って日本では300円取られますが、こっちはタダです。
ただ、難題はどれだけユーザーを増やせるかでしょうね。
実際のところ、周りでテレストラの携帯使っている人なんて一握り。シェアは圧倒的にオプタスです。
メールもSMSがコチラでは主流なので、iモードでメールができてもあまり意味がないような・・・
新しいものよりも物を大切にするオーストラリア人の習性に加え、わずか2000万人の人口でマーケットをどうやって増やしていくのか。今後の行く末を見てみたいものです。
